Philip Meredith achieves acquittal based upon a defence of duress

Philip’s client accepted at Hove Crown Court that he had driven dangerously, but said he had only done so because he was held at knifepoint as he drove through the streets of Brighton pursued by police.  Philip was instructed by Sarah Smith of Tildens, and was able to call Dr Procopio to deal with the psychiatric aspects of the case.

As any criminal lawyer will know, the defence of duress involves a particularly complex combination of legal and factual issues, and is notoriously difficult to run.  Philip brought all of his courtroom experience to bear in order to secure this excellent result.
