Melanie Lee, Principal Associate at Weightmans and Assistant Coroner for Inner North London recently came to Chambers to deliver training on Coronial Law and Inquests for our members.

Our Civil Law team already specialise in inquests and inquiries. Our members are regularly instructed to assist with complex and high-profile cases, all over the UK, acting for police forces, universities and various public and governmental offices. However, the training provided a comprehensive examination of a broad range of topics including the purpose, role and powers of a Coroner including their statutory and procedural duty.

As you can imagine, given Melanie’s experience as an Assistant Coroner meant she could give a practical perspective that we would not ordinarily have access to. The fact she ran the session in person – which we’d again like to thank her for – meant we could also ask questions to gain the highest possible understanding of this fascinating topic. We know what we learned will hugely benefit our clients.
