Harriet Bennett

Pupil

Before commencing pupillage, Harriet worked as a County Court Advocate where she attended a variety of civil hearings across the southeast and western circuit. Within this role she developed her advocacy, case preparation and client conferencing skills in hearings involving bankruptcy, return of goods, mortgage possession and civil applications.

As a Crown Court Clerk, Harriet worked closely with the judiciary, counsel, probation and other institutions within the criminal justice system to ensure court hearings ran smoothly and efficiently. Harriet has experience clerking trials, sentences and other administrative hearings involving some of the most serious criminal cases including murder, manslaughter, rape, serious assault and drugs.

Whilst undertaking the bar course at BPP University Harriet volunteered at a legal advice clinic for welfare rights delivering legal advice to people who would not otherwise have access to it.

In her free time, Harriet enjoys staying active by attending the gym and running. Harriet is currently training for the Brighton Marathon in 2025 and is raising money for a knife crime charity.
