On Tuesday, 23rd April, Andrew Judge and Kyle Fournillier delivered a seminar to Heringtons Solicitors that covered a wide variety of civil law topics. The one-day event took place at the Cooden Beach Hotel in Bexhill and was attended by Heringtons’ partner, Nikki Coward, solicitor, Beth Reid, trainee solicitor, Abigail O’Toole and paralegal, Tracey Hopgood.
Andrew and Kyle provided a comprehensive legal update on The Building Safety Act 2022, focusing specifically on Landlord and Tenant issues, as well as an overview of the Fixed Recoverable Costs Regime.
Andrew discussed The Grenfell Disaster, offering an analysis of building and safety defects, insights from the independent Hackett review, developer responsibilities, available funding opportunities, building safety regulatory matters, including fire safety, duty holders obligations, remediation and redress considerations (including who bears the costs), remediation orders, gateways, and changes to limitation periods.
Kyle’s presentation covered cases subject to and exempt from FRC, litigation tracks, such as fast track and intermediate track cases. He also provided a detailed examination of FRC under the CPR, and key aspects of the litigation process affected by the FRC regime.
